Epoxy Grout is the best product for anchoring machinery baseplates that support pumps, motors, compressors etc. which tend to vibrate. When Epoxy Grout is used correctly the machinery will stay in alignment and last longer with greater reliability compared to concrete.
It is essential that the correct Epoxy Grout product is chosen for its strength, high temperature resistance, minimal shrinkage, and resists degradation by corrosive chemicals. Concrete does not hold up well to vibration and corrosion. It has high shrinkage. Machinery baseplates that are poured with concrete are subject to “voids” (air pockets) which can create a terrific vibration problem for rotating machinery that will ultimately result in early bearing failure, less reliability, and shorten machinery life.
Epoxy Grout tends to absorb shock or vibration unlike concrete. It is not unusual for anchoring bolts to pull completely out of concrete. This product is used often for repair of existing baseplate that are in operation or that can only have “hours” of downtime for repair.
Be certain to select the correct Epoxy Grout Product for the application:
- The correct ratio of aggregate
- Select “thin-pour” grouts for liquidity where required
- Follow manufacturer’s exact instructions for safety and successful results
- Use a experienced grout contractor on your first jobs
- Consult with experienced representatives to select products for application
- Low Exothern Grout is desirable for many installations
- Use Environmental Friendly products where possible
